General Instructions
The Oklahoma Tax Commission automatically grants a six-month extension of time to file for any individual that has a Federal extension until October 15, 2006. You will only need to file for an Oklahoma extension if you owe Oklahoma taxes or you are not filing for a Federal extension. To avoid penalties, Oklahoma requires that 90% of the total tax liability be paid by April 15, 2006.

Penalty and Interest Charges on Tax Owed:
In all cases, interest will be charged from the date the tax should have been paid (April 15, 2006) until the date of payment. The interest rate is 1.25% per month (or portion thereof) until the balance is paid in full. In addition, Oklahoma may assess a delinquent payment penalty of 5% if you do not pay at least 90% of the total tax due by April 15, 2006.

Oklahoma extension payments can be made via credit card at the Oklahoma website www.oktax.state.ok.us. Click the "Payment Options" link. If you pay by credit card, you will not need to file any other forms at this time.
If You Do Not Owe...
If you owe zero taxes or are expecting a refund from Oklahoma, there is nothing to be filed at this time, an extension is automatically granted until October 15, 2006 for the filing of your 2005 tax return.
